Skip Lott was the prototypical male college student. He spent fleeting moments in the kitchen of his campus apartment, cooking up whatever it is college kids eat. The recipe for one of Lott’s concoctions was a mixutre of potatoes and ground pork. Lott would precook the potatoes and season them with parsley and garlic. Lott knew he had something special on his hands when his college buddies at the University of Santa Barbara took a liking to his meat-and-spuds creation.

Chef Fateha graduated from the renowned Lenotre Culinary School created in the 70s by Gaston Lenotre in France. She was trained by some of the best Pastry chefs in the world such as Pierre Herme, Philippe Conticini, Christophe Felder, and some Meilleurs Ouvriers de France and World Championship Pastry Chefs. She worked in World Class Establishments in different part of the world. Following her Mentor advise, she moved to New York to explore the pastry scene in the US. She, then worked at the Montage Hotel in Deer Valley, Utah. Then an opportunity came to work in the Michelin Starred restaurant in the Rosewood Hotel and finally the Village Pub. Domaine Becquet is a California winery with a French accent... Its wines have less alcohol than many California wines and less "oak from the barrel" but they offer great fruit aromas and taste and an amazing complexity. Domaine Becquet's wines are aged in oak but in used barrels to avoid an overpowering oak taste. The winemaker is often present at the tasting-room in Murphys to answer all questions re. wine and winemaking.

What has remained consistent since 1981 is the uncompromising quality and the original philosophy behind the winemaking. Scharffenberger Cellars sources grapes from its own 120-acre vineyards in the Anderson Valley, as well as trusted growers in the greater Mendocino County with whom it has had long-term contracts.
